My Review:
It’s Kind of A Funny Story by Ned Vizzini is about Craig, a 15 year old boy dealing with depression. Growing up Craig definitely did not have it all but he had a family who loved him, and a roof over his head. The older he got, Craig decided to work hard and get himself into a prestige high school near his home. Getting into this high school ends up being the best moments in his life, but it all ends in depression when the pressure of school gets to him.

Craig, by far is one of the bravest characters I have met in all the books I have read. The fact that he knew that he had a problem and was brave enough to get help with it instead of doing something stupid which was amazing. I feel like parts of the depression were his part for a few reasons. He choose his friends and they were a big part of it considering how they acted. They hurt him more than they helped him. Also Craig pushed himself to get into that school which was tough on him. He should have taken everything easier and paced himself. But instead he got stressed out and everything went too far.

When Aaron was brought into the story I did not see him as that bad of a person he seemed like a good guy who just relaxed more than he stressed out, but then when things went sour in Craigs life I realised what kind of person Aaron was when he was not their for his best friend. Nia on the other hand I did not like throughout the whole book. In the beginning she, basically told Craig she was not going to date him because Aaron was cooler, and then when Craig was having a rough time she got all conceded and told him not to kill himself because of her. Then closer to the end she broke up with him and ran right to Craig the way she did, she was just an awful person.

In the end, Craig came out on top. He felt better and he even had a handful of new friends that made him feel good about himself. I was extremely happy with the end of this book and I definitely plan to read more of Vizzini’s books.
