I received Alice In Zombieland from Around The World ARC Tours for an honest review.

I haven't read many Zombie books but I'm so glad that I picked this one to read because it was phenomenal! This is about a girl named Alice "Ali" who lives at home with her parents and her little sister, but there family is different from anyone else because they don't go out at night, ever! The reason being Ali's father has this horrible fear that the "Monsters" come out at night and they will destroy his family. After a bad car accident Ali is determined to take down as many zombies as possible.

I'm so in love with this book! The plot was fantastic I mean of course zombies are pretty interesting but Showalter did a pretty good job in making this unique to all the other zombie novels out there. Another thing I liked about the book was the different chapter names! Some of them were so cute like A Fiendishly Mad Tea Party (all the chapters related back to Alice In Wonderland which was pretty cool)

The characters in this book were pretty cool also. Ali was strong and I loved how much she wanted to make things right for her family. Cole who happened to be the love interest in the story started off as someone I thought would be rude and hurtful through out the whole book but he developed really nicely and I ended up falling in love with him. My favorite sub character was Kat who was Ali's best friend, I liked her because she was so witty and never backed down from anyone and always stuck by her friends no matter what.

In the end this amazing book gets a 5 out of 5 stars because it was flat out fabulous!!

Excerpt:
I glanced up. Intense gray-blue eyes stared back at me, as I recognized the guy from the hotel. Surprised to see him again, I merely nodded before bringing the shot to my lips.
"What was that?" I spat out while the liquor continued on to burn my throat.
"A Jaeger shot," He laughed lightly. "Feeling better?"
"Yeah. I can't believe I did that." I peered over my shoulder at the stage where another group was starting their rendition of Time of my Life.
"It really wasn't so bad. It was more entertaining than if Cyndi Lauper performed it herself." Raking his eyes from my toes back up to my face, he spent an annoying amount of time studying my legs. Long legs were nice, but not when they attracted the wrong type of attention. Normally I would call a guy on metally undressing me, but I was too busy taking my own inventory. Finished, I glanced around for Jess but couldn't see her in the crowd.
"So, thanks for the shot, but I need to find my friend."
"Hey, you can't run off from me again." He didn't say it like a question, more like a demand and it annoyed me. "Besides, your friend appears to be unavailable."
I followed his gaze and noticed Jess flirting with Dave again. "Run off on you again? That implies we have run into each other before." I tried to coy; I wasn't going to let this guy unnerve me. Sure, he had the most amazing set of eyes I had ever seen, but I wasn't interested.
"I saw you at the Crescent City Hotel this afternoon, but you took off before I could say hello." He leaned closer to me, trying to be heard over the loud music.
"Oh, I didn't notice you."
He smiled, ignoring my comment. "You here for vacation?"
"I'm here for work actually, at the hotel."
"Are you around for the whole summer then?"
I allowed myself to really look at him. My earlier estimate of his height was dead on; he was much taller than my 5 feet 9 inches.
I finally answered. "Yeah, I'm here until I start school in the fall."
"All right, so where are you going to school?"
"Princeton." I braced myeself for his response.
"Nice," he said in a way that suggested he wasn't impressed.
"You in school?"
"Yeah, I'm going to be a senior at Tulane."
"Oh, so you live here?"
"Born and raised," he said proudly.
"I didn't think locals hung out at places like this."
"We don't usually, but they're great spots to meet girls from out of town."
I shook my head. "Ah, so you're one of them."
"One of who?"
"The type to prey on innocent tourists."
"Innocent tourists? You make me sound like the big bad wolf."
"And you're not?" I questioned.
"Only if you're Red Riding Hood," He said flirtatiously.
"Wow, that's original." I caught myself staring at his eyes again and decided it was time to end the conversation. "Well, nice talking to you."
"Hey, I didn't even get your name yet."
"Allie."
"Is that short for Allison?"
"Yes, but no one calls me Allison." I curesed myself. Why couldn't I just walk away from this guy? I briefly regretted my decision to swear off men because I hadn't this one would be exactly my type: tall. strong, and confident. He was exactly the kind to avoid.

Interview:

P: What made you want to become an author?

LM: To be blunt, I have stories in my head--characters, their lives, their wants, their needs, and so on. Not all of them play out, some of them fade away like vague dreams. But some of them are more concrete-- and I've always felt other people should get the chance to expeience them with me.

P: What advice would you give to other aspiring authors?

LM: Write. By all means, read books on writing, go to conventions, take classes, do everything you can to improve your craft. But above everything else--write. None of the other things matter if you don't put them to use. So--write.

P: I think Tarot Card readers are pretty interesting and entertaining, What made you want to write about one?

LM: I didn't really have a specific reason. It just seemed like a very quintiseential New Orleans type of occupation, especially for someone who is more con artist than true believer. I tried to incorporate as much of the city's cultue into the books as possible and this is a very big part of the culture of New Orleans in general and the French Quarter specifically.

P: The name of my blog is "Comfort Books" so what is your favorite "Comfort" book?

LM: Anything Nora Roberts. Now if I want to have a good cry, I read Rememberance by Jude Deveraux. It always makes me weep.

P: How long did your characters live in your head before you put them on paper?

LM: Jude was work in progress--maybe two or three months. Cari and Frankie were pretty much born on a moments notice.

Meet The Author:

I'm J.C. Isabella, and I love to write. I've been writing for about ten years now. Mostly it was just for fun, for me. But my friends liked my work, so I decided to self publish. I hope you enjoy the rest of my site, and the books I have written.

The reason I chose to write romance, is because I love a happy ending. In YA there are so many lessons to be learned, so many firsts to be had. Why not write about first kisses, first crushes, or trying to explain to your father you were bitten by your boyfriend, who happens to be a werewolf?

One thing I will always promise in my books is a happy ending. I've always hated getting to the end of a really great novel, and feeling let down because it didn't end the way I thought it should. So about ten years ago, I decided to write a book. I remember it was about these kids who hijack a boat to find buried treasure in Mexico....

Needless to say, my writing has come a long way since my teen years, and I know I have room to improve, but I feel guilty having these books sitting in my computer, with no one to read them. So I'm putting them out for the world to see!

I try not to take myself too seriously. I'm not an editor, nor am I a total wiz when it comes to grammar or language. I try my darndest though, and I hope to give people an enjoyable read that is nice a break from reality.

I put a lot of work into what I do, and I appreciate people reading my work. It makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
