I received Out of the Easy by Ruta Sepetys as apart of an ARC tour for Around The World ARC Tours for an honest review.

When I first saw Out of the Easy on the tour site I was excited but not because I’ve read Between Shades of Grey I was excited because I’ve never read a book that had to do with prostitutes before and so I thought “Wow this book is going to be really interesting” and it really was! After reading this book I want to run out to the store right now and pick of Between Shades of Grey because I know It’s going to be awesome!

The main character Jo has a tough life. Her mother is a full out prostitute which is hard for a little girl because her mother is always dragging her to hotels and making her hide or dragging her to whore houses and leaving her alone and stuff like that. Her mother finally gets a somewhat stable job. (but still as a prostitute) In a whore house basically but it’s more of a high class one. Her boss Willie is like the wicked witch/a fairy god mother at the same time. She basically raises Jo from when they come to live with her until the end of the book. But when Jo turns 14 she decides she can’t handle her mother anymore and her boss owns a bookstore with a little room above and gives her the opportunity to take it and she does and that’s basically where the book starts off.

This book was jammed packed with awesome characters! I loved all of them except for two. Jo was a strong independent girl which is good, she had to be because if she was weak she wouldn’t have made it for as far as she did. We have her co-worker Patrick who was sort of the love interest for me during the book until the other guy in the story Jesse came along and I picked him because he was a lot better of a guy! Don’t get me wrong though, this was no love triangle because she didn’t love them at the same time.

Wille was like Jo’s grandmother almost even though they weren’t related at all. Willie always made sure Jo was in good hands. Made sure she had a job had food and a place to stay. She was the type of person who wasn’t mushy but she knew how to take care of people which I loved! In the house where her mother lived there was three girls and a made and a driver and I loved all of them except for Evangeline because she was just a witch sometimes! My favorite character had to be Cokie one because of his name because it was so unusual but he was just the sweetest guy you could ever meet!

Jo had some problems with her mother which sucked but with the help of Willie and the two boys she handled it very well. Her mother ran off with some loser who beats her and steels from her all the time so let me tell you I was very happy with how this book ended. It was a happily ever after ending! Definitely deserves a 5 out of 5 stars.
