Fractured Light by Rachel McClellan
Llona Reese is used to living on the run. After the Vykens killed her parents, she knew they would eventually come for her too. But she never felt ready to face them---until now. Defying the Auran Council and everything she's been taught, Llona must learn to use her power over light as a weapon if she wants to survive.
My review:
I’m so glad I signed up for the blog tour of Fractured Light. It was like a breath of fresh air because all I’ve been reading lately is contemporary, so to finally read something dark I loved it. This book is about a girl named Llona is an Auran (I’m pretty sure that’s what it’s called) which means she has the power of Light. When she was younger she lost her mom who has the same power as her just way more experienced and powerful. She was killed by something called a Vyken which is a basically like garlic to a vampire! Not long after she lost her dad to what she thinks is the same Vyken, and now she is trying to live a normal life at home with her uncle Jake.
Like I said this book was definitely a breath of fresh air. It was different but in a good way. It’s almost like a our main character was a witch but not quite because she couldn’t do just anything she could only do things that had to do with light. Which I enjoyed, I never knew you could do so many things with light.
Llona is a loner basically in the beginning she only has one friend and that is May. The reason these two are friends is because May has a weird power just like Llona but I’m not going to tell you that, that’s something you need to find out on your own when you read the book! May is a really great friend because even though Llona has this weird power and barley has any friends she still hangs out with her and helps her through tough times.
Llona really changes throughout the whole book which is really awesome. It’s good when you read a book and you can see the characters growing and changing it means that the author really knows how to write. There was a tad bit of romance in the book too which I loved. The love interest is Christian and the reason why I loved this romance so much was because it was completely forbidden. Makes you want to go read it right now doesn’t it? Then go do it!
Overall it’s 5 out of 5 because I loved the characters and I loved watching them change and grow. I also loved the plot and the forbidden love was my favorite!
