This Love Synopsis:
Amber's always planned to leave her overbearing mother and their stifling small town behind as soon as she graduates. That is until her car breaks down outside Bale and Son's mechanics and she meets Freddy Bale. A boy who'd rather live in the moment than make a five-year-plan. Ignoring her friends' warnings, Amber puts all dreams for her perfect future on hold, and dives into the romance heart first. On their last day of school, however, Freddy decides to call off their relationship, and Amber does the only thing she can think of: Run away and never look back. Just like she'd always planned. Ten years pass before Amber sets foot in town again, only returning to look after her ailing mother. While Freddy wants to make amends, Amber is confronted with her own wrong choices from ten years ago. Choices that could change the lives of everyone she's ever loved. When first love is given a second chance and the secrets of the past come hurtling into the present, will Amber and Freddy be able to lay their mistakes to rest and make this love the strongest one of all?

The Truth About Being a Writer

Stories aren’t always there — it’s a fact. Sometimes you think you know what you want to write, but then it disappears like a puff of smoke and you’re left chasing random thoughts, and wasting a considerable amount of time.
This Love, my newest release started out as The Truth About Love. It was a story about a group of friends, who all got a section of the story to narrate their POV. About 30 thousands words in I decided it wasn’t going anywhere because I only really liked the first couple I wrote about. Scrap version one.
The Truth About Love then became With and Without You, a tale of love told in a past and present format. Now this I liked, but I gave the female heroine all sorts of traumatic backstory and honestly I couldn’t see a way to fix her or the story around her. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t mind troubled teens, bad choices, broken families, etc, but what I had created was beyond the realms of feasible. Scrap version two.
I deleted the whole lot, well not deleted exactly. I shoved them all in a folder on my laptop and swore to never waste my time on them again. In fact at this point due to personal reasons I decided to take six months off writing and concentrate on my family while actively promoting the titles I already had out in the big wide world. Roll on 1st January 2015 and my blinding epiphany that struck at crazy o’ clock in the morning. Suddenly I had it. Young love, forced apart by circumstances, given a second chance. Here was my tale describing the truth about love using past and present that I had been chasing, but with a completely different context. I sat down that day, after explaining to my husband that I wasn’t going to be taking that break we had discussed after all and I started writing. Writing, writing, writing, and I couldn’t stop, it just poured out of me.
So this is the truth about being a writer. Sometimes there just isn’t anything to write and I’ve learnt the hard way that this isn’t something to panic about. If you are meant to write then the story will eventually find you. I remember years ago reading this little quote that said, “Writers should write everyday.” This piece of advice taunted me for a long time as I battled to write and be a full time mum to my small children. Finally I learnt how to balance my life and most importantly write stories that felt natural and right. I may only release two books a year but if those stories come from my heart and they mean something then I will be more than proud. I live with faith that readers will understand what they have meant for me to write and appreciate each word so much more for it.
