Guess What?! I have another Author Interview for you guys today! I had the pleasure of recieving both of these books for review! Now I haven't read the second book yet but I have read the first so you guys will be able to check out my review for the first book which is on the left =) Before I share the interview let's find out more about the author shall we?
T.L. Clarke (TLC) is the author of Blood Oath, the second book in the Gabby Girls Adventure novels. A lifelong reader, TLC has always had a particular fascination with mysteries, adventure and mythology. When she is not writing, she can be found watching bad movies, listening to music, and traveling. Originally from New York, TLC now lives in the Washington, DC area, where she is hard at work on the next installment of The Gabby Girls Adventure series.
You can connect with her in these places:
Now for the interview =)
P: Thanks so much for being here today! The first question I would like to ask is, is The Secret of the Scarlet Stone supposed to be YA or MG?
TLC: Thank you Paige for inviting me here today!
I know that there's some confusion out there about whether it's YA or MG and the answer is that The Secret of the Scarlet Stone (book #1) and Blood Oath (book #2) are preteen books. The whole Gabby Girls Adventure Series is preteen.
P: In addition to being an author are you also a reader? If so, what kind of books do you enjoy reading?
TLC: I am a big reader of all types of books from mystery to fantasy YA to MG. However, my favorite books are paranormal and fantasy and a good dose of action and adventure. I'm currently hooked on paranormal books with werewolves and shape-shifters.
P: What is your favorite thing about being an author?
TLC: The freedom to use my imagination to create fantasy worlds; I also love to infuse my books with strong female characters with unique personalities.
P: The plot behind the Gabby Girls Adventure Novel is pretty interesting. Where did you get the inspiration for it?
TLC: I wanted to write a preteen series with an updated twist on adventure and mystery. I also knew that I wanted the series to have diverse female characters that are strong in their own way, smart, funny, and not afraid to take risks. I also wanted to show a different view on girls bonding in friendship despite their different backgrounds and personalities.
P: How many Gabby Girls Adventure Novels do you plan on writing?
TLC: There will be six books in The Gabby Girls Adventure series, Book #1 (The Secret of the Scarlet Stone) and book #2 (Blood Oath) are available now. I'm working on the edits for Book #3 (scheduled for release January 2013). Book #3 begins at the tail end of of Gabrielle escaping from Transcendence and getting dragged deeper into the Elementi world with no way out.
P: As an author what sort of advice would you give to aspiring authors?
TLC: Read a lot, do your research on writing techniques and the business, don't be afraid to spread your writing wings by letting your creativity be your guide not what's 'hot' right now. And mostly most importantly just start writing.
P: Lastly, should we except any other books from you in the near future?
TLC: Im beginning to write book #1 in a new YA Urban Fantasy/Paranormal series (scheduled for release 2013) and I'm having lot's of fun with it. Also there's book #3 in the Gabby Girls Adventure series that will be released January 2013.
What did you guys think of the interview? I enjoyed reading this series and talking with the author! Leave me your thoughts below please and thank you! Also you can check out my review for the first book which should be the post under this one if blogger likes me today =)
