Firefly Tour: (New Character) Interview

Firefly by Belle Whittington
Release Date: February 2, 2013
Synopsis: “The darkest days are ahead of us,” Andrew whispered as the drape of shadows slipped away, allowing Blair to awaken. And in her heart of hearts she knew it was true. The unmistakable signs were all around her, growing within her. She was becoming something more than human. All she could do was accept the inevitable.

“I’ve become a freak … an alien. I no longer belong to the human world,” Blair told her true love, and he held her close, determined never to give her up.

“I’d stay in this darkness forever as long as I could be with you. Wherever you are … that’s my home.” Everett meant every word. In fact, he’d willingly give up his own life to protect the girl he’d always loved.

But there was a storm brewing … a firestorm so strong and catastrophic that it could keep them apart forever.

That storm roared into town wearing a brown leather bomber jacket and riding a motorcycle.

Ash was like a secret in human clothing … a dangerous secret. Everything about him was mesmerizing – right down to the swirls of ink that flowed over the smooth muscles across his chest and around his arms. Being with him was like playing with fire.

Blair knew all about playing with fire.

She knew something else, too. A small quiet voice deep within whispered that she really would be separated from everyone and everything she’d known and loved.

Because some secrets run too deep.

New Character Interview: (Ash)

Paige didn’t know what she was in for when she scheduled an interview with the mysterious guy who’d shown up in her friend’s life out of the blue.  She’d been friends with Blair for quite a while and was intrigued by what Blair had told her about this new guy named Ash.

They’d agreed to meet at Starbucks for the interview, and Paige sat alone at the little table next to the window.  She arranged her papers and sipped her Vanilla Spiced Latte.  She hadn’t seen a picture of Ash, so she had no way of knowing what he looked like.  She straightened her ponytail and glanced around once more.  She froze when her eyes met the most startling pair of aquamarine eyes she’d ever seen.

It had to be him.  He was leaning against the counter, holding a cup of espresso in one hand.  The thumb of his other hand was looped in his back pocket.  A strategically-torn t-shirt showed just enough of his smooth chest and the tattoos that swirled across his golden skin to make Paige’s breath catch in her throat.  She would’ve liked to have seenwhether or not the tattoos also curled around his arms.  And she couldn’t help but wonder what the charms dangling from the cords and chains around his neck meant.

“Like what you see?” Ash winked and cocked a crooked smile.  Several girls seated behind Paige sighed.  “You must be Paige.”  He had a hint of an accent unlike any she’d ever heard.  And it was s-to-the-exy!

She cleared her throat.  “Ahem, yes.  How long have you been standing there?”

Ash swaggered over to Paige’s table, turned one of the chairs backwards, straddled it, and folded his arms on the back.  He was completely comfortable in his own skin and absolutely aware that all the female eyes in the room were on him.

“Does it matter?” he shrugged.  “So, let’s get to it.”

“Get to what?”  Paige felt the heat flush across her cheeks and nose and hated herself for it.  She was beginning tounderstand what Blair had been telling her.  Ash had some sort of power over females.

He lifted an eyebrow and cocked a crooked smile again.  “Well, I assumed we were doing an interview.  Perhaps, you have something else in mind?”

Paige arranged her papers once more so she’d have someplace else to look besides Ash’s crystal clear aquamarine eyes and how they contrasted so perfectly withhis light brown hair and golden skin.  Blair was right; he looked like a rock star god. She decided it was probably safest to forge ahead with the interview.  Blair had warned her about Ash’s ability to draw you in like a moth to the flame.

“So Ash … youre the new kid in town. What’s it like?”  Paige twirled the end of her ponytail around her finger and glanced up at Ash.

“Kid?”  He smiled a knowing sort of smile and leaned forward, looking deep into her eyes for a moment or two, and then said so only she could hear, “I’m no kid, sugar. But I am new around here.”

Paige stuttered a moment, then “what I mean to ask is if you’ve made new friends?”

“I’m not here for any reason but your friend.  Blair’s the only reason I’m here.  The rest of them?” He ended his sentence with a shrug as if to say he didn’t care aboutanyone or anything else in Willis, Texas.

She shuffled through her papers again, wishing she could stop blushing and also wondering what was behind his intense interest in Blair.  “Ummm … most of the time when new guys come strolling into town, there ends up being a romance.  Do you have your sights set on anyone?

“Strolling, huh?”  He chuckled.  “Sugar, I blazed into this little town.  And when I leave with what’s mine, there’ll be a path of fire behind me.”  He winked at Paige and bit his lip again, making Paige think it must be really nice to kiss those lips.  He chuckled like he knew what Paige was thinking.  And maybe he did.

Paige shook her head to clear her thoughts.  “I obviously don't know much about you, so how about we have a fun round of questions?

“Sure,” he cocked a crooked smile.  “I like having fun with pretty girls.”

Paige caught herself rolling her eyes.  “Let’s try a speed round of short questions.  You answer with one word.”

He nodded once, and Paige doubted Ash would follow the one-word-answer rule.

“Are night or morning person?” She asked.

“Both.  I don’t sleep.  Gives me more time to do those things I like doing,” he looked Paige over like she was a delicious pastry.  “Like being here with you,” he flashed a lazy, sexy smile.  Nope.  He wasn’t going to follow the one-word rule.

Paige decided not to respond to his remarks, remembering how Blair had told her it was best to deflect instead of entertain them. “Coffee or Soda?

He held up his cup of espresso as his answer.  But she had no idea how someone could make a cup of coffee look so sexy.

“Blondes or Brunettes?”  She kept her eyes on her paper and pretended to take notes.

“What color would you call Blair’s hair … light brown?  That’s what I really like.” An indescribable expression crossed his face.  Paige thought it looked like he was missing someone.

Chocolate or Vanilla?”  She was glad the last question was the safest.  Of course, with a guy like Ash, she wasn’t sure any question would be safe.

Cacao was grown by the jungle peoples in South America, so naturally that’s what I would choose,” he glanced down at his hands.  “It was once one of Blair’s favorite offerings.”  His eyebrows knit together and a frown tugged at the corners of his lips.  “I’ve gotta run.”  He stood, and the frown immediately disappeared from his face.  Then he winked at her and sauntered out the door, climbed on his motorcycle, and tore out of the parking lot doing a wheelie.

His departure was so abrupt that Paige sat there, stunned, wondering what had just happened and who the very sexy, mysterious guy named Ash really was … and what he’d meant by saying that cocoa had once been one of Blair’s favorite offerings…
