Letters In Cardboard Boxes by Abby Slovin, was really a beautiful story about a girl dealing with losing her grandmother to Alzheimer’s disease which is a very sad thing to go to and you could see during the book that it was very hard for Parker.

Our main character is Parker and she’s had a tough life because from the age of I think 12 and on she lived on her own because her parents did nothing but travel travel travel. Therefore poor Parker was left on her own quite a bit. Luckily Parker had her grandma who was there for her all the time even when Parker was not so nice.

Parker and Dotty which is her grandma were very close which is why when she learns her grandma has this common disease it’s very hard for her because she knows that her grandma was the very last person she has left. During the coarse of the book though Parker gets two more people that she can rely on to keep her going.

Those two people are Tanya who is the young girl who Parker’s grandma mentored but when she fell sick Parker took over for her. These two weren’t close in the beginning but as time passed they were like best friends. The next person she relied on was her grandmas old friend Jerry. Jerry has lived right next door to her grandma for basically their whole life’s. Parker starts to get close to him too and they eventually start telling each other stories and Jerry is always there for Parker when she needs someone to talk to.

In the end I’ve given this book 5 out of 5 stars because it was a really touching story and even though it was hard for me to get into at first I recommend it to anyone who feels like they’re life is going nowhere because this book will help you out a lot!
